- the drought continues:

It is 31degC here today, and the drought continues - now the driest period since settlement in 1788 in many parts of NSW.  In many country towns, water use is restricted to essential purposes in the house. There were a few thunder storms over Christmas that gave hope that it still knew how to rain, but the long range forecast is for the El Nino to continue at least another six months.

Pity we can't swap some Australian heat for some Norwegian water and both be better off!
