| Hi Enok, thought you might be interested in this picture.
After the Canberra fires, I was very angry with the politicians on television standing in front of burnt out houses saying nice things about how they were going help out, when in reality they were partly responsible for the severity of the fires through their refusal for the last decade to do anything about Australia's appalling record on CO2 emissions and the greenhouse effect. Climate researchers have been warning for some years that the greenhouse effect will result in more severe fires and droughts in eastern Australia. So I emailed Greenpeace and suggested they should make an effort to get the public to see that the fires are not a "natural" disaster, but a disaster due partly to policy inaction. And I said I would donate $1000 to the cost of a newspaper ad. They took me up on my offer, raised another $9000 and the attached picture appeared as a half page ad in our national newspaper, the Australian, this morning.
