The Lyre-Bird Thanks to Vivien (Henderson) for provoking my curiosity about this very beautiful and special bird I never heard about before. Lynds Jones tells about it on: http://www.birdnature.com/dec1899/lyre.html Credit: The picture above was found on The Nutty Birdwatcher |
Like a dream might Hilary (Ash) most generously contributed this: recently i heard a writer speak about his new book. he was describing the importance of art in enabling us to see the world. 'a man,' he said, 'might walk past a blossom tree every day of spring and fail to notice its blooms. but when he sees a painting of the blossom tree, then he sees it, as if for the first time.' how elusive is truth - the harder we chase
it, the more it slips away. when we believe we have a solid grasp of it, suddenly it grows
new tentacles and complexities. and yet we are driven to seek it. |
Can obscure as well as enlighten Welcome to these words from Dave (Cooperberg): A quick response mostly to say I have viewed your writing
at this site.I found your words about metaphors of value. They can obscure as well
as enlighten. If it is not well chosen it may well obscure what is being said.
But even if it is well chosen, the 'receiver' can still chose to pay attention to
the intended message OR chose to focus on the veils that obscure it (or the aspects that
do not fit). |
The titmouse box I have heard the titmice calling each other for quite a long time, started rather early this year. So, this very Sunday morning, I went out to put up the box which is especially designed for them. Bringing with me my petit dejeuner coffee jar, - placed it on the top for a topping out ceremony to happily tell the world: The birdbox is ready! Enok 6th April 2003 |
